Hi there,

Anyone planning on taking part in this?

I like the idea of it and think it would benefit the sport. I however suspect that they have pitched the entry fee too high at £100

I think you are right - £100, when you add in travel and accommodation, is a bit steep. The information seems a bit vague too, especially in terms of prizes. I can't see it being a huge success and don't think I'll be attending.

I agree with you both. I got in touch with the organisers over fbook saying basically the same thing: great idea, good luck and why the steep entry fee? Was replied to, very quickly, saying the gift pack alone was worth £75 hence the 100 squid. I'm afraid I couldn't be bothered replying to say that I would have considered entering if the entry fee was reduced and the gift pack done away with. I probably should have been polite enough to provide some feedback. One of the web pages features bass that isn't one of our ones too- whoops.

All a bit of shame as I would have loved to have been able to support and take part in something like this as broadly speaking I think the more the sport is popularised the better the chance of improving and enforcing bass and general fish protection measures.

I looked at this too, but £100 is very steep and suggests they're targeting professionals or guys from the trade. it's a very long way from the Scottish highlands, too! for just over £100 I can get a return flight to Madrid and e20 a night gets me perfectly reasonable b&b. which explains why you haven't heard from me for a while.... sorry about that, folks  8)

I agree on the costs, but it's like everything else around entries into game fairs etc, I personally would have gone but I am still in Florida that weekend. Shame as Mr Mc is giving seminars on Mullet on the water! For my twopence I sincerely hope it is a great success, then maybe it will grow. The more events like this can only be better for the sport

I am hoping to make it down if I can get the time off from work that weekend sadly missed last year due to other commitments and time factors.
